PDS CARES has selected New Directions Career Center (NDCC) as the recipient of this week’s 30 years, 30 Gifts donation. NDCC was nominated by Jim Hamilton, an employee of PDS Planning, Inc.

NDCC’s mission is empowering women in transition to achieve and maintain economic self-sufficiency. The center achieves its mission by providing career counseling, employment-related education and information services.

The vision of the organization is to assist clients in gaining skills, information and resources vital to securing and retaining meaningful employment with fair compensation and benefits.  Upon completing the Center’s programs, 70-75% of participants have been able to enter employment, complete ongoing training or education and drop all or some of their dependence on public assistance.

NDCC offers a variety of group programs and workshops, as well as individual career counseling designed to assist people in their job search and set attainable career goals. They also offer monthly special-topic workshops for career development and financial literacy.

When asked why he nominated this charity, Jim shares, “I had the opportunity to volunteer in educational events at the center.  I found that a lot of the women there are eager to learn and grow and improve.  You can just tell that they are ready for positive changes.  The women come there and receive the knowledge and tools needed to excel.  This center literally gives them a place where their lives can find new direction.”
