What’s Happening: Late-2018 Edition

December 24, 2018

In recognizing that managing finances is simply the fuel to help you pursue your passions and spend time with the ones you love, we regularly share “What’s Happening at PDS” to let you know what our staff has been up to, both professionally and personally.

Happy Holidays from PDS Planning.  From our family to yours, wishing you a joyous season full of peace, wonder and love.

We recently celebrated at our PDS Christmas Party hosted at the Menges household.  Thank you to Jamie’s wife, Terri, for opening your home to all of us.  Despite insisting it was time to turn over the reins, Jim Hamilton once again hosted the White Elephant gift exchange.  It’s a shame Rita‘s husband, Chris Itsell, wasn’t in the room when Santa Claus visited.  Terri reports the pillow that was temporarily missing during Santa’s visit has been returned.

Our annual Company Meeting was held in October at Brick House Blue in Dublin where we spent a day away from the office collaborating to discuss and improve processes, service, and strategy.  Afterwards, we enjoyed a friendly game of bowling at Pins Mechanical Co.  “The Brain Trust” (Kurt, Tom, Drew, and Ciera) soundly beat “The A-Team” (Jamie, Dean, and Beth), “The Dream Team” (Rita, Laurie, and Alyssa), and “The Incredibles” (Jill, Shannon, and Trina) with Drew, Kurt, and Tom sweeping the podium.  Jamie held court at the Ping Pong table where he was undefeated, with Shannon giving him the best run for his money.  We think we’re close to convincing Laurie, Alyssa, Beth, and Rita to start a professional Jenga league where they’re sure to dominate.

Tom Ellison‘s boys, Adam (7) and Dean (4 next week), only have one more night to wait for Santa to arrive after vising him and Mrs. Claus at “Snowflake Castle” in Westerville earlier this month.  Adam joined Cub Scouts this year and volunteered at an Honor Flight this fall.  All 3 boys have been busy raking (and playing) in leaves, with 2 of the boys excited for snow.

Kurt, Megan, and Luca (22 months) Brown recently attended a wedding in Naples, FL where Luca played on the beach and saw the ocean for his first time!

Drew Potosky and his fiancee, Liz, are engaged to be married in August 2019.  We’re excited to see if their dog, Charlie, will be trained in time to be the ring bearer.

Laurie Licata and her daughters took her grandson, Greyson (4 months old), on his first Black Friday shopping trip.  The Licata girls are not wasting any time sharing their shopping expertise.

Jill Olding brings good tidings this holiday season.  Her son, Blake (age 23), graduated from THE Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a minor in Business Administration.  Her youngest son, Mason (age 18), a Senior at St. Charles Prep has decided to attend the University of Miami in Oxford to study business.

Beth McCampbell celebrated the big 3-0 in September.

Trina Brown attended the Association of African American Financial Advisors Annual Vision Conference in Atlanta in September.  She has also been performing her poetry around town, as shown in this picture.

Jamie Menges and family enjoyed a trip to Chicago in October.  The Ledge Skydeck at Willis Tower is a must-see, and Evan and Caitlyn especially enjoyed Rainforest Cafe.

Bob and Susan Cochran are continuing to enjoy Bob’s retirement.  When they’re not tending to their plants or watching their beloved Columbus Blue Jackets, they can usually be found travelling.  These pictures are from their French River cruise.  They also recently spent time in San Antonio, TX.

Thank you to those who were able to attend our friends and family client appreciation event at the Columbus Zoo on September 15th!

Dean Schuler attended the eMoney Advisor Summit financial planning conference in Orlando, FL in October.

Kurt Brown and Jamie Menges attended the Schwab IMPACT conference in Washington, D.C. in October.
